SANTA ON A HARLEY
Note from Ragan and Eddie Jenkins:
For the past several years Eddie and I have sponsored and organized the Christmas or "Holiday Party" for Pasco County Big Brothers Big Sisters. Big Brothers is a non-profit agency that matches adult volunteers with children from single parent families. I became a Big Sister in 1988, and continue in the program to this day, although I am now on my 5th Little Sister!

Eddie and I have several friends in the community who donate goods and services to bring this party together each year. A friend who is an entertainer at Disney, Hungry Harry's, Beef O'Brady's Cool Beans Cafe, the Land O'Lakes/ Lutz Womens Club, Lakeside Grill and others donate food, Victorious Life Assembly and the Central Pasco Chamber of Commerce donate gifts, and family and friends (including Women inthe Wind) show up to help out with man power to set up, serve food, etc.

Over the years we have had Santa arrive in a helicopter, boat, firetruck, and convertible sports car. But the biggest reaction was when Santa came on a Harley- and ever since- it was a tradition... the kids would stand out front of the party just listening for the rumble of Santa's UltraClassic. Each year the excitement of the kids grew as the number of Harley escorts grew. (The number of reporters and photographers from local newspapers also grew with those numbers)

The kids welcome the escorts in to the party and refer to them as reindeer or elves, and all escorts are fed and brought into the party atmosphere. We had about 100 children last year and expect even more this year! Each child is supervised by their Big Brother or Big Sister- so all stay in control of behavior, and are aware that no motorcycle is to be approached without permission from the owner. There is lots of laughter and excitement at the party, but the 1 on 1 ratio keep it all safe and under control.

This year's Holiday Party is being held at Lakeside Grill, (4422 Land O'Lakes Blvd, Land O'Lakes) on Saturday, 18 December 04, from 1pm- 4:30pm. Eddie will meet all who wish to ride escort Santa at his office (Jenkins Land Surveying, 1900 Hwy 41 North, Lutz- at the intersection of Hwy 41 and North Dale Mabry) Kickstands will go up at 2:00 pm for the ride to the party. The party will continue until 4:30pm and all riders are welcome to stay for lunch and the fun we have planned. The kids love it when the reindeer and elves join in.

We are not asking for gifts ( those are already donated) - We ask only for riders to escort Santa.

Thank you for your help!
Ragan

DESPERATE!
No, not me...silly! The New Port Richey H.O.G. Chapter has grown to well over 300 members strong, and we're in desperate need of Road Captains! We want to keep it fun for all of us, including our current Road Captains. It becomes very difficult on our RCs by not having others to rotate trips with. We all really enjoy the rides, however, if we don't have more Road Captains volunteer, we'll burn out the one's we have (and even a few of them have questionable mental states, now!). PLUS, if you become an RC, you'll not only receive a FREE oil change for the first ride that you lead, you will be put on a pedestal, and worshipped by pigmies (no, not me). You will be trained by our best, PLUS you get to implement any creative ideas, and have a bunch of sillies follow you anywhere you wanna go! Okay, didn't you want to be the line-leader in school? Thought so! E-mail John Connors (above), and get started today!

A Heartfelt Thank You
from the Family of Anthony Waters!

The Anthony Waters Poker Run and Rally, held Saturday, May 1st at the Gunn Hwy Flea Market was a happy success for all involved, raising more than $4000 to benefit this 21 year old young man who was paralyzed in an accident last March. The funds raised will help to pay for the care and therapies that Anthony will need to progress.

With over 100 motorcycles showing up to ride in the Poker Run (despite the weatherman telling everyone to expect rain!) The weather was warm all day- with only the barest hint of a tiny drizzle of rain for about 3 minutes in the afternoon. The riders donated between $10 and $20 to participate in the poker hand that had them riding through Hillsborough, Pasco and Hernando Counties collecting each of the cards for their poker hand.

The live bands, 3ACP and Newhook, began impressing the crowd with their talented shows of live music, as poker run riders returned praising the beautiful ride mapped out for them to follow, even when their poker hands were not quite good enough to win. The four men who DID win the cash prizes of $100 for best hand, $50 for second place, $25 for 3rd place, and even a $25 for the WORST hand of the day~ all donated their winnings back into the trust fund to benefit Anthony. In the most memorable moment of the day, the top poker hand winner asked all present to bring forward one dollar each to match his donation of the $100 winning prize, and all present came to the stage to accept his challenge.

Volunteers from Women in the Wind, Lake Como Resort, Jenkins Land Surveying, and many friends and family members came out to volunteer their services by washing motorcycles, selling raffle tickets, assisting with the poker run, serving food donated by Hungry Harry's BBQ, and all of the many little jobs that need done to host such an event. This event could never have been a success without the local community turning out to help in so many ways.

Both the Waters Family and the coordinators of this event wish to express heartfelt to all the sponsors, volunteers, participants and media who came out to support this cause. Please know that each of you contributed to the larger success of helping this family to afford in home care and therapies as he progresses. Photos from this event will be posted online at www.raganjpix.com for anyone to download for their own use or for media reporting on this event.

If you would like to continue to show your support, as Anthony's care is on-going, there is a Trust set up in Anthony's name, "The Anthony J. Waters Irrevocable Trust" and is established at the Suntrust Bank in Lutz. You may also send donations directly to Anthony's parents c/o Tony & Cindy Waters at Street Eagle, 17604 U.S. Hwy 41 N., Tampa (Lutz), FL 33549, Toll Free: 1.877.305.8899, Tel: 813.909.8899. Or you may also contact Eddie or Ragan for more information: harleyz4us@hotmail.com .

April NPR H.O.G Chapter Meeting Highlights

Joe gets it!

Top left: Joe is the proud recipient of the April Director's "Golden Plug" Award. Joe received this award for the most Gra phic Officer's Presentation, yes, you had to be there to understand (this is a family-oriented website...ahem)!

Top right: Ken Roberts is the first honored recipient of the Immunity HOG. This award is given to a Chapter member that has performed an outstanding achievement, whether it be for a single good deed, or for doing notable work for the community. This award grants the holder immunity from the Director's Award (making it priceless), or any form of abuse from the Chapter, for a period of 2 months. The Immunity HOG must be awarded, by the current holder, to a different member earning outstanding recognition during the next Chapter meeting. Ken earned the Immunity HOG for his hard work, dedication, and contributions towards to the great success of the Angelus House Poker Run! Thank you, Ken, for representing our Chapter so well!

Bottom Left: Larry gives Moe a lift to reach the microphone...or rather, that was the clean version that Larry wanted me to put here. Ahem. Okay, use your imagination for that caption.

Bottom Right: Member goes incognito.

SO, You weren't at the meeting, eh?
Hey, we miss you, but it really is your loss! You're missing a heck of a lot of fun! So don't miss next month's meeting! Mark your calendars now! Wednesday, May 26!
